Gorman Gays

Bishop Gorman High school has banned same-sex couples from going to school dances. Not only has the administration banned gay coupling but they have singled out openly gay students in an attempt to intimidate them. The argument that “the school may do whatever it wants to because it is parochial” is no argument at all. While this rule might not be illegal, it is immoral. This is an extreme reaction to a faulty understanding of the Catholic faith. It is one thing to ban public displays of affection between couples because, ostensibly, the school disallows pda equally for heterosexual couples. The regulation of whom a student may take to a dance is an egregious misuse of power. This sends the message of intolerance to impressionable minds. I don’t know if there is any organized reaction to this, but I am interested in helping anyone who opposes this new measure.
